Last Thursday, I learned that I'd gotten into the NYC Half Marathon via the lottery! Shortly after the holidays end, I'll start training again. I'm looking forward to that added motivation. I'm also hoping race day won't be as cold as it was last year!
I'll be working with Coach Jess again. I not only had a magical marathon day on October 13, I loved working with her and thought she had a great attitude toward training. We're hoping to accommodate any potential work craziness in my training plan.
I'll have ten weeks to focus on speed and my goal is to PR. I'm not sure how much I'm aiming to PR by yet since I haven't run more than 8 miles since the marathon. Once I start training again I'll be better able to assess my goals. But obviously, I want to go sub-2 (which I'd have to do to PR, since my NYC Half time from this year was 2:00:00 on the dot).
Last year, I over-trained by running every run too fast and it left me feeling weak on race day. This year will be different, and I'm so excited to see what I'm capable of!
